Once upon a time…

NiIRA is the result of the collaboration and common interest of Dr Philip Tam, Dr Andrew Campbell, Ms Jocelyn Brewer and Mr Michael Belos. The group started meeting monthly in February 2011, with the intention to create a balanced and unbiased resource, aimed at unpacking the emerging issues relating to the social and psychological impacts of the Internet.

Each team member brings a unique set of skills to the team; Dr Tam the medical and clinical perspective, Dr Campbell a clinical and research viewpoint, Jocelyn’s experience is with social media and counselling and Michael with gaming and IT skills to complement the team.

To ensure the quality and integrity of all information posted on the site, the NiIRA team invited a overview committee to review the content posted on a regular basis. This team is made up of Professor Garry Walter and Professor David Bennet.

Having met monthly throughout the year, the team has pulled together a range of ideas and resources which are now presented in this easy to use site.

Over coming months the site will expand to include new research findings, treatment concepts and information for parents, practitioners and online consumers.

We have the assistance of Dr Mel Nguyen and Mr Brad Ridout who will oversee the submission of original articles published on the site.  Ms Siobhan Moylan, an experienced publicist and producer, will manage our media and public relations.
